Bengela.

This is pretty amazing.

It is by Brey, who when he isn’t making things like this, is making me laugh out loud (lol) on twitter.

It will come out physically and digitally on the very well run Svetlana Industries sometime in the next month.

If I had a radio show, I would play this twice in one show.

But seeing as I don’t I’ll just play it to my flat mate in my lounge.

It’s been a sad sad week. You complain about the cold and snow and the work and the whatever. Then all of a sudden, this happens. You put things into perspective.

Our thoughts, prayers and hopes are with the people of Haiti and all those affected. God Bless and Heal.

For info on how to help, peep this – http://www.redcross.org.uk/index.asp?id=39992

Lagrimas de Soledad

more summer music released in winter. those of richer climates need to stop teasing.

d’wala (of holdboxflat) gives a touch of London to the sounds of Gilles Peterson’s Havana Cultura. Danay the vocalist sounds incredible – need to research because I hear there is a solo project somewhere.

I wish a lot of  ‘remixers’ knew when to stop. This is just right. It’s not too little that I’m wondering what has actually been changed, and it’s not too much that the OG had been completely desecrated.

Mulatu . . . Dilla . . . Verocai

Realistically, this is going to be the closest I (and sorry, but a lot of y’all) are ever going to get to seeing the real thing – Mochilla have put as much of the magic – from the 3 bespoke 2009 concerts – as they can into this beautiful boxset which come March 30th, is going to take pride of place in 400 lucky collections.

My initial urges for the box were completely materialistic but then I’m grappling with the thought of the music that lies within. Needless to say, what i’d pay for one of these has also rocketed somewhat.
