ten#2
another ten. because.
Velocity Girl – Crazy Town
sounds like that song that you’ve heard thousands of times before but actually haven’t. grunge. + i say it a lot but probably for late 80′s babies. seen on PINGLEWOOD.
Jazzmine Sullivan – Lions, Tigers & Bears (Ossie Remix)
every r&b track should be soca’d up. + then we could have a whole new genre to debate. (((LISTEN)))
Kingdom – Mind Reader (Ft. Shyvonne)
hassled Kingdom multiple times to see when this was coming out. he loves r&b and it shows. this is what i cry out for when it comes to this house/dub/garage buzz. someone distinctive. that makes you want to dance rather than space out. (((LISTEN)))
Joe Budden – Downfall
budden’s getting angrier, we are getting happier. negative correlation. (((LISTEN)))
Strong Arm Steady – Cheeba Cheeba
I used to hate on SaS because of their voices. it’s a wonder what Madlib production can do. this album hasn’t left my ears for longer than the time it takes to play the midlake album.
Oddisee – City Life (Ft. Tranqill)
oddisee’s + tranqill. was a classic waiting to happen. an album? at least an EP? (((LISTEN)))
Kyle Hall – I <3 Dr Girl Friend
Obscene music to make at his age. Influences clearly span both sides of Detroit, and when some of the elders hang up their equipment (?) Kyle Hall will certainly be there to carry the legacy on his back. (((LISTEN)))
Midlake – Winter Dies
Yeah. Folk Rock runnings. an Amazing album as I’ve already alluded to. Every song is worthy of being my favourite. And may welll be over the next 12 or so months. got legs like crouch. (((LISTEN)))
Slum Village – Reunion (Ft. J Dilla)
i know i’ve shared my love for this multiple times before. but i can’t help coming back to it. Maybe because I know how nicely Black Milk flipped the sample. Maybe because I feel the frustration in Elzhi’s verse. Or maybe because it’s a favourite Dilla verse and it’s Dilla month. All 3. (((LISTEN)))
Major Notes – Friend of Mine (Ft. Mellody)
funky debates rage on. but as the various dj’s pick their corners and the aspect of the sound they want to represent only a minority of tracks are keeping their place in record bags scene wide. this is one of the lucky ones. getting a release TBC. (((LISTEN)))
